Though once the news was okay with only one or two new infections on our beautiful Island a day, the news has changed, so that we are now getting 16 new infections a day and Vancouver is a greater threat than before.
We can react to this, and safely too, by having only 4 to a large round table rather than 6. This is how we sat at the Founders' Night and it worked well from a social distancing point of view but the decision to go to this event is, I think, yours alone and not our directors.
There are presently 34 registrations and we have to guarantee 30 by November 20th.
Would you please let me know, by Monday,if possible as to whether you still plan to come to our Christmas Dinner assuming that we have 4 to a table and entertainment by Pat doing his soft shoe shuffle?

A three course plated meal including coffee or tea will cost $41.00 including a gratuity and tax. The Uvic club charges $420.00, in addition to the cost of the meals, and Camosun Gyro will be paying this from our reserves. To add this to our meal costs would simply be too much to pay for a meal but we must take every opportunity to keep our flame alive.
Starter: Seasonal Greens.
Entree: Choice of Roast Turkey Breast and Cranberry Stuffing, Roast nugget potatoes and seasonal vegetables OR
Baked Ham with Mustard Gravy and potatoes and vegetables as above.
Dessert: Christmas Pudding with brandy sauce.
December 4th is not the best time but is the only time being offered. Please let me know of any food allergies.
As always, our Golden Girls are invited at no cost.
We have until November 20th to confirm and we will require 30 people for the $41.00 meal because there is a minimum food order of $1,000.00.
We will be using tables designed for eight with only three settings of a couple. (This has now been changed to 4 people on a table designed for 8). We have to wear masks on entering the restaurant and must stay seated unless a trip to the bathroom is needed.
The meeting will start at 6:00 pm for tableside cocktail service that can paid for with a credit card. Dinner will served at 7:00 pm. Please let me know of any food allergies.
Directions:
If you are coming from Cedar Hill Cross Road, turn left onto Gordon Head Road at the traffic lights, then make your first right onto West Campus Gate and then your first left onto West Campus Way. You will see parking lot #10 on your left. Continue down this road. You will then see the UClub on your right and parking lot #9 on your left.
If you are coming from McKenzie Avenue, make your first right after the McKenzie/Gordon Head Intersection onto McGill Road. Follow this road into the University. You will see parking lot #8 on your right. Turn and follow through to the end of the parking lot and you will come to West Campus Way on your left. Follow that road and you will see the UClub on your left and parking lot #9 on your right.
